At Blufftonian.com, we get asked all the time: “When are you guys going to drop some hats?” or “Where can I buy a Blufftonian t-shirt from your site?” It’s a fair question. In a world where every local blog or news site has a “Shop” tab, it seems like the logical next step. However, we’ve made a conscious decision to keep our shopping cart empty because we believe the community is better served by us supporting local creators rather than competing with them.
The “Bluffton State of Mind” is built on supporting one another. The local economy thrives when we shop at the Promenade, frequent the Farmers Market, and wear the brands started by our neighbors. Many of our neighbors are already pouring their hearts into making incredible local gear, and if we started selling our own shirts, we’d be competing with the very people we write about. We would much rather use our platform to lift up those creators than try to take a slice of their pie.
Our mission at Blufftonian.com is to be the town’s digital front porch—a place for stories, news, and connections. Instead of managing inventory and shipping labels, we want to focus on what matters: telling you what is happening in our backyard. When we see great Blufftonian merchandise out in the wild, we aren’t going to try to copy it. Instead, we are going to tell you exactly where to find it. Whether it’s a limited-run hat from a local shop or a hand-printed hoodie from a maker at a community market, we believe our role is to act as a megaphone for local talent.
To make this even easier for you, we are adding a dedicated vendor section to our website. This space will refer you directly to the local artisans, printers, and shops who do what they do best. By highlighting these creators, we can point you toward the high-quality products that help make Blufftonians great, ensuring that your support stays right here in the community.
If you are a local vendor who already creates awesome Blufftonian gear, we would love to hear from you. We want to know about your products, your story, and where our readers can find your latest designs. Our goal is to showcase the talent that already exists right here in town, so please reach out and let’s talk about how we can share your work with the rest of the community.
If you want to wear your Bluffton pride on your sleeve, we encourage you to go see the folks who have made it their craft. By supporting the small business owners who pay local taxes and sponsor local Little League teams, you are helping the community stay vibrant. We will keep doing what we do best: telling the stories of the people who make this town great.
