A New Era of Care: MUSC Health Bluffton Medical Pavilion Set for Spring 2026 Opening

BLUFFTON, SC — The skyline along Buckwalter Towne Boulevard is transforming as MUSC Health nears the completion of its newest landmark, the MUSC Health Bluffton Medical Pavilion. Scheduled to open its doors in Spring 2026, this three-story, 54,000-square-foot facility represents a $45 million investment in the health and resilience of the Lowcountry. As Bluffton continues to be one of the fastest-growing towns in South Carolina, the pavilion is designed to serve as a comprehensive medical hub, significantly reducing the need for residents to travel to Charleston or Savannah for world-class specialized care.

The pavilion will consolidate existing local services while introducing several high-demand specialties to the region. The facility will house dedicated suites for both adult and pediatric primary care, alongside expanded access to MUSC Children’s Health experts and after-hours pediatric urgent care. A major highlight of the project is the inclusion of a Hollings Cancer Center satellite, which will provide oncology consultations, infusion services, and a state-of-the-art chemotherapy compounding pharmacy. Patients will also find a wide range of specialized clinics on-site, including vascular care, cardiology, and pulmonary medicine.

Beyond traditional exam rooms, the pavilion is equipped with high-tier diagnostic tools and advanced technology. A mobile MRI unit support pad ensures the facility can provide advanced imaging on-site, complemented by a comprehensive imaging center with lead-lined X-ray facilities. To address specialized needs, the building includes a Sleep Lab with independent access for overnight studies and dedicated telehealth stations designed to connect local patients with specialists across the MUSC network instantly.

Understanding the unique challenges of storm season in Coastal South Carolina, MUSC Health has prioritized infrastructure resilience throughout the design process. The pavilion is equipped with a heavy-duty on-site generator capable of maintaining critical operations during power outages. This ensures that life-saving services, such as the pharmacy’s negatively pressurized compounding environment and cardiac monitoring, remain fully functional even when the regional power grid fails.

The project serves as a major economic driver for Beaufort County, fostering a growing medical corridor by sitting adjacent to the planned Beaufort Memorial Bluffton Community Medical Campus. Upon opening, the pavilion is expected to create nearly 60 new jobs, including 17 specialized physicians and providers. The site is also designed for high-volume accessibility, providing 259 parking spaces and a canopied patient drop-off area to ensure ease of access for all community members.
